Don’t you just love Australia and its boutique hotels? The country is famous for its wildlife, varied landscape from rainforest to desert and its iconic cities like Sydney and Melbourne. Especially as Australia is huge and loads of people go there regularly, it might seem a bit daunting from afar to find the perfect boutique hotel for your particular stay.

Let us try and whet your appetite! In the following, we’ll cover the Halcyon House, a beautiful boutique hotel on the East Coast of Australia, and protel’s Calendar of the Month for May 2018. Halcyon House beat fierce competition from around the globe to make it into the calendar – we think you’ll see why straight away!

Why do you have to stay there?

It combines the perfect setting for luxurious beachside holidays, romantic getaways, meetings, celebrations, and memorable weddings. It consists of 19 rooms, 2 luxury bedroom suites individually designed by Anna Spiro Design, from Queensland. Moreover, it has a stunning beachfront pool and terrace area. The hotel also has a restaurant, Paper Daisy, that serves the best culinary dishes of the region. Once you are there, you’ll fall in love with it.

The Ocean View Master Room, for example, is individually designed, featuring a large private furnished balcony, writing desk and lounge area. In the bathrooms, you’ll find beautiful English tapware, marble vanities and handmade tiles.

Where is the boutique hotel located?

Halcyon House is nestled between the stunning sun-bleached Cabarita Beach coastline and the rolling green hinterland of northern New South Wales. Thus, it’s only a two-hour drive from Brisbane! The hotel lies 15 minutes south of the Gold Coast Airport. The airport offers daily flights, for example with Qantas, Virgin Australia and Jetstar. The lovely Byron Bay is also only 30 minutes north of it.

Local Region

There are plenty of amazing things to explore within the local region. Taking the highway south 30 minutes, you’ll find Byron Bay, where to find some of the best surf breaks in Australia. On top of that, there are a number of eco walks and trails for the adventurous types.

By Taking the highway down to the south, you’ll discover Mullumbimby, a bohemian town. Follow the walking trail through Brunswick Valley Heritage Park. It’s a habitat for more than 200 rainforest plant species and definitely worth a visit.

Venturing inland to the town of Murwillumbah, you will find a place blotched with pockets of sugar cane, banana plantations and hobby farms. Stop by Mavis’s Kitchen to observe the works of Australia’s most celebrated painter of still life and interiors.

Conclusion

Boutique hotels are usually small and stylish. They are well-known for their unique personality, contemporary vibe or their ultra-personal service. Whilst this is true for most of them, Halcyon House has the distinct advantage of being located in one of the most beautiful regions of the world.

Have you been to a boutique hotel before? Or are you already planning your next trip to Australia? Then you should absolutely consider this tranquil and carefree place on Australia’s East Coast. Feel free to share your personal experiences with boutique hotels with us in the comments below.
